Through going the ‘extra mile’, our vision is to bring God’s ‘colour’ into the lives of all in our school community and to ‘colour’ with them the world around us.

What we mean by:

‘Going the extra mile’
If anyone forces you to go one mile, go with them two miles.
(Matthew 5: 41)
Jesus was telling his listeners to go beyond what was required. The ‘extra mile’ is not something we have to do, but it’s an opportunity to do more than is expected. At St Luke’s, we try to go above and beyond for those around us.

‘God’s Colour’
God’s colour is a way of describing the many ways in which the love of God can change our world, the way life could and should be like. Peace, kindness, sharing, loving, supporting others – the opportunities to show God’s colour in a world that can seem grey are endless.

‘Our school community’
Our pupils, their parents and their families; our staff and their families; visitors to school; local agencies such as community police officers and charities; our extended family in St Luke’s Church. We seek to share God’s colour with all those connected to our school.

‘Colour with them’
We don’t just want to go the extra mile for those in our school community; we want to encourage and equip our school community to do the same for others – to work together for change.

‘The world around us’
Our immediate local area is our primary concern; we long to see God’s colour in our community – changing hearts, lives and futures. As we equip our school community to bring God’s colour into the lives of those they meet, we hope that the effects will ripple out into the world beyond.
